Vascular Sheath for Radial Artery and Femoral Artery

The Vascular Sheath for Radial Artery and Femoral Artery is a multi-functional access sheath compatible with two mainstream approaches: radial artery and femoral artery. Adopting a three-layer braided composite structure, it features thin wall with large inner lumen, superior kink resistance and reliable support. Designed based on the Seldinger technique, the complete kit includes outer sheath, tapered dilator, puncture needle and guide wire to establish stable percutaneous vascular access rapidly. The long-acting hydrophilic coating at the distal end greatly reduces insertion resistance and lowers the incidence of vascular spasm and endothelial injury. The fully radiopaque shaft enables accurate positioning under fluoroscopy. The rear end is equipped with a high-elastic hermetic hemostatic valve and integrated three-way stopcock, realizing anti-leakage, pressure monitoring, contrast injection and intraoperative drug delivery. With a full range of French sizes and multiple lengths, it is widely applied to coronary and peripheral vascular interventions, serving as a universal fundamental access device for interventional cardiology departments.

Product Overview

The Vascular Sheath for Radial Artery and Femoral Artery is optimized for the dual anatomical characteristics of slender and tortuous radial artery, as well as large-caliber and deep-access femoral artery, enabling one product to meet clinical demands of two access approaches. The sheath shaft adopts a three-layer composite structure composed of PTFE, stainless steel braided mesh and block polyamide. It reduces wall thickness and expands inner lumen while greatly enhancing kink and torsion resistance, ensuring smooth delivery of interventional devices even in curved vascular segments. The full distal surface is coated with medical PVP hydrophilic coating, which forms a lubricating water film quickly when contacting body fluid. It effectively reduces friction during insertion, removal and device exchange, and minimizes post-operative complications such as radial artery occlusion and pseudoaneurysm. The shaft is embedded with radiopaque filler and platinum-iridium markers for full fluoroscopic visibility, allowing precise control of insertion depth and position during procedures. The gradually tapered dilator tip features smooth transition to dilate the puncture tract gently and protect vascular endothelium. The rear silicone rubber hemostatic valve provides excellent sealing performance and prevents blood leakage during repeated device exchange. The standard lateral three-way port can be connected to monitoring equipment and drug delivery devices flexibly to fulfill multiple intraoperative requirements. Optional auxiliary accessories such as skin scalpel are available. The full product line is sterilized by ethylene oxide. As a single-use sterile device, its complete specifications cover adult, pediatric and various complex interventional procedures.

Key Highlights

  • Dual-access Universal Design: Compatible with both radial artery and femoral artery approaches. One device meets multiple surgical needs and simplifies consumable management.
  • Three-layer Braided Composite Structure: Reinforced with stainless steel braided mesh, the thin-wall & large-lumen design balances kink resistance, supportive force and device passing efficiency.
  • Long-acting Hydrophilic Coating: Distal PVP hydrophilic lubricious coating reduces insertion resistance, relieves vascular spasm and minimizes vascular injury and post-operative complications.
  • Full-range High-visibility Radiopacity: Dual visualization design with shaft radiopaque filler and distal platinum-iridium markers ensures accurate fluoroscopic positioning and improves procedural safety.
  • Smooth Tapered Dilator Tip: Gradual transition dilates blood vessels gently, reduces puncture trauma and adapts to fragile vascular tissues.
  • High-sealing Hemostatic Valve: The medical-grade silicone rubber valve features great elasticity and tight sealing to prevent blood leakage during device exchange.
  • Multi-functional Three-way Stopcock: The lateral three-way port supports pressure monitoring, contrast injection and intraoperative drug delivery for integrated and efficient operation.
  • Complete Specification Options: Various outer diameters and lengths are available. Optional accessories including puncture needle, guide wire and skin scalpel suit all patient groups and complex procedures.
  • Excellent Biocompatibility: All components are made of medical-grade polymer and metal materials without allergens for safe and reliable clinical use.

Technical Specifications & Construction

The complete kit consists of outer sheath, tapered dilator, hemostatic valve, three-way stopcock, puncture needle and guide wire. Skin scalpel is optional for selected models. The shaft adopts three-layer composite structure with full distal hydrophilic coating. The entire shaft is equipped with radiopaque materials and platinum-iridium markers. Outer diameter is measured in French (Fr) with mainstream clinical sizes and multiple standard lengths. Sterilized by ethylene oxide, the device is individually packed in sterile pouch for single use.

Typical Clinical Applications

As a universal access device for cardiovascular intervention, this sheath supports both radial and femoral artery approaches. It is widely used in cardiology, vascular surgery and interventional radiology:

  • Transradial / Transfemoral coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI)
  • Diagnosis, balloon dilatation and stent implantation for peripheral arterial diseases
  • Vascular access establishment for complex coronary lesions and chronic total occlusions (CTO)
  • Access creation and maintenance for radiofrequency ablation of arrhythmia
  • Intraoperative intravascular pressure monitoring, contrast injection and continuous drug infusion
  • Access establishment for delivery and exchange of interventional catheters, guidewires and balloons
  • Vascular access procedures for special patients such as obese patients and patients with high bleeding risk

Quality Assurance & Compliance

Patient safety and clinical efficacy are our top priorities. The Vascular Sheath for Radial Artery and Femoral Artery is manufactured in Class 10,000 standardized cleanrooms in strict accordance with the ISO 13485 medical device quality management system. Every batch undergoes full rigorous tests including dimensional verification, bending fatigue test, coating adhesion, valve tightness, radiopacity definition, biocompatibility and sterility test to guarantee stable structural strength, lubricity and sealing performance. The product has obtained multiple international authoritative certifications such as EU CE and US FDA, complying with global safety standards for interventional medical devices. Complete registration and compliance documents are available to meet access requirements of hospitals, specialized clinics and distributors worldwide.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. Can this sheath be used for both radial artery and femoral artery approaches?

Yes. Optimized for the anatomical features of both arteries, this sheath is universal for dual approaches. The full specifications from 4Fr to 8Fr adapt to the small lumen of radial artery and large lumen of femoral artery respectively. One series of products can meet diverse interventional demands of clinical departments.

2. Can this sheath be re-sterilized and reused?

No. This is a single-use sterile medical device. Re-sterilization and reuse will cause hydrophilic coating peeling, braided structure deformation and hemostatic valve failure, which may lead to severe risks such as infection, vascular injury and blood leakage. Reuse is strictly prohibited to ensure patient safety.

3. Do you support global shipping and bulk orders?

Absolutely. We partner with reliable international logistics providers to fulfill global B2B orders. Please reach out with your required volume for a customized quote and lead time estimate.
